The far-reaching holiday of Lunar New Year is celebrated in China, and much of Asia (including Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam, among the global Asian diaspora.) Simply put, as Chinese people are the largest population that celebrates Lunar New Year, therefore it is relatively correct to say that all the people who observe Chinese New Year celebrate Lunar New Year \u2014 but not vice versa<\/i>. Point to note is that, Chinese New Year, which is specifically observed by the Chinese population, is based on<\/i> the Chinese lunar calendar<\/a>.<\/p>

China\u2019s Lunar New Year is known as the Spring Festival or Chu\u0304nji\u00e9<\/i> (\u6625\u8282) in Mandarin. In contexts outside of China, for instance, Koreans call it Seollal<\/i> while Vietnamese refer to it as T\u1ebft nguy\u00ean \u0111\u00e1n<\/i> (or simply, T\u1ebft<\/i>).<\/span><\/p>
